Important — Educational use only

CableBox is an educational tool intended solely for the simulation, study, and experimentation of UK electrical lighting circuits. It is designed to help learners, apprentices, and trainees develop their understanding of circuit construction and the principles set out in BS 7671 (the IET Wiring Regulations).

01CableBox is not a regulatory reference

It must not be used as the basis for any real-world electrical installation work, and must not be relied upon to confirm compliance with BS 7671, the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, Building Regulations Part P, or any other statutory requirement, code of practice, or industry standard. The current published edition of BS 7671 is the only authoritative source on the matters it covers.

02The compliance checker is a learning aid

CableBox's built-in compliance feedback identifies a limited set of common errors for the purposes of teaching. It does not constitute a complete inspection, test, or verification of a circuit. The absence of a flagged issue within CableBox does not mean that a circuit complies with BS 7671 or any other regulation, and the presence of a flagged issue should be understood as a teaching prompt rather than a formal finding.

03Electrical work must be carried out by skilled persons

All electrical installation work in the United Kingdom must be designed, installed, inspected, tested, and certified by a person qualified to undertake the work, in accordance with the current edition of BS 7671 and all applicable statutory requirements. Where the work falls within the scope of Building Regulations Part P, it must additionally comply with notification and certification requirements. CableBox does not assess, confirm, or otherwise establish a user's competence.

04No substitute for formal training or qualification

Use of CableBox does not constitute, replace, or contribute towards any formal training, qualification, assessment, or supervised experience required to work as an electrician in the UK. No representation is made that use of this app prepares a user for any assessment by City & Guilds, EAL, the IET, or any other awarding or registration body.

05Limitation of reliance

By using CableBox, you acknowledge that you understand its purpose as an educational simulator and you agree that no warranty, representation, or guarantee is given as to the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose of the app or its content. You agree not to rely on CableBox in any context where electrical safety, regulatory compliance, or professional certification is in issue. Nothing in this disclaimer limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited under the laws of England and Wales.
